Quick Overview

Polyvinylether (PVE) synthetic lubricant, approximately 2 ounces

Product Description

The Masterflux hermetic compressor housing contains both a high efficiency scroll compressor and the motor that drives it. Since the motor is immersed in the refrigerant, the refrigerant and lubricant must be non-conductive.

For this reason, standard PAG (Polyalkylene Glycol) refrigerant oil cannot be used.

In "short" systems, including most automotive use, it should not be necessary to add PVE oil. The compressor should come with enough oil in it for that use. If the set up is a "long" system, or a system recharge, additional PVE oil may be used, depending on the traps, size of coil, length of run, and other conditions.

After removal of the stock compressor and accumulator/dryer, we recommend flushing the remaining components with an automotive A/C flush kit, making sure that the product does not contain any PAG oil or other lubricant. When completing the install, be sure to use a new accumulator/dryer unit. The system should have enough polyvinylether (PVE) synthetic lubricant for charging.

Otherwise the procedures are the same as for standard automotive A/C systems, and can be performed with the same tools.
