REVOLT Electric Vehicle Components highly recommends purchasing the Sierra 04 with SAE fittings. If the bare tube option is selected, fittings will need to be brazed on by the customer.
As of August 2011, Tecumseh announced a price increase for Masterflux® SIERRA and
ALPINE series compressor and condensing units. SIERRA and ALPINE compressors utilize brushless DC (i.e., BLDC) compressor motors with rare earth magnets, NeFeB. The cost of rare earth magnets has risen to unprecedented levels due to export quotas, duties, and restrictions imposed by the
Chinese government. The majority of the global consumption of rare earth materials is sourced from China. As such, associated compressor costs have risen significantly.
